L.A. VIOLENT PROTESTS- UPDATES: Trump authorizes the deployment of additional 2,000 National Guard members

President Donald Trump authorized the deployment of an additional 2,000 National Guard members to Los Angeles in response to immigration protests. This new order brought the total number of National Guard members on federal orders for the protests to over 4,100 (initial reports mentioned 2,000, then an additional 2,000, bringing the total to at least 4,000-4,100). Hours before the additional National Guard deployment, the Pentagon also deployed about 700 Marines to the city. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell was cited in some reports confirming the additional National Guard deployment.

 In May, U.S. inflation picked up slightly, especially for goods, as companies passed on higher import tariffs. The core consumer price index, which excludes food and energy, rose 0.3%, the highest in four months, and is projected to reach 2.9% annually. Some businesses raised prices on items like furniture, apparel, and auto parts, but costs for airfares, hotels, and recreational services declined. The Federal Reserve will review this data before its June 17-18 policy meeting, while job market reports suggest employment growth is slowing but remains stable.
